Match Report India VS South Africa

South African players were totally demolished, all thanks to the Indian fielding and batting department. South Africans were squeezed by the spinners and the fielders. Jadeja once again proved that he was Dhonis go-to man under pressure situations. His amazing fielding effort to remove Robin Peterson was a remarkable one.

Peterson and De Villers were bringing in a crucial match winning partnership which could have turned the match results around but as wickets kept falling at the other end, De Villers stood there until pressure for runs overruled him.

Indians fresh faces led to a blazing start of 331. Shikar and Rohith brought in a very vital opening partnership

which was very helpful for India winning the match. Even with all these madness around, Dhawan proved that these spot-fixing scandal had no effect on them. Even Rohith was up-to the mark which was unusual. Earlier in the innings, Rohith was only blazing around with his beautiful drives.both were never risking their wicket and played a strong and a fiery patnership but Rohith on 65 fell for a short delivery from Lowab Tsotsobe which he tried to pull on the leg side. Kholi did some damage util he was outsmarted by McLaren's slow ball which carried straight to Amla. Dinesh Karthick and MS Dhoni were not at their best and soon fell to McLaren and Tsotsobe. Ravindra Jadeja blistered 47 from 29 at the end of innings which helped India post a very competitive total of 331

But for South Africa, the loss of Collin Ingram and Hashim Amla was one of the huge drawbacks for South Africans loss. Ishanth and Yadhav along with Bhuvi were very expensive but picked up vital wickets of Amla, De Villers and Faf Du Plessis. David Millers suicidal run-out  was due to lack of coordination between Faf and Miller. In all Faf Du Plessis was an innings was the main reason why SA lost the match.

He dismissed David Miller and was on the verge of dismissing De Villers his innings was also not up to the mark. This events clearly show that he played a losing Innings. 

SA's bowling department was also not-so-good one. Moren Morkel was only bowler who was good but soon, he had to walk out as he was facing an injury. Already SA's leading pacer Styen is suffering injury. with Morne injuring himself, it adds more concern to De Villers side as both their leading pacers are in doubt for this leading tournament. 

The last time these two sides faced in the 50-50 format, they had all their prime players in the playing eleven Jack Kallis, Gream Smith, Dayle Styen, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Ghambir, Zaheer Khan are the players who were missing. Who knew that these sides would have a totally new young team the next time they face.

1. Shane Watson.

Where : Australia

Bangladesh bowlers faced the bombarded and destroyed by Watson and he posted a mammot record of 15 sixes in a single innings which makes him the most dangerous batsmen to bowl in this Champions Trophy

As a bowler he is wiling and speedy, but not as quite as good as he thinks he is. He is sometimes prone to give a lot of runs but at the same time his talent to vary his pace and bowl at good length helps him to pick up some handy wickets and delivers useful overs in all forms. An excellent batting average of 42 and a superb bowling average of 28 proves him to be one of the most destructive All-rounder in this tournament.In all he is a Complete and trustable package

2.Joe Root

Where : England

                                     This young english cricketer is suprise package for England. Root unlike Kevin Pietersen, had never been a strikingly heavy socrer as he worked through the ranks nor he had a athletic body like Shane Watson, but his systematic approach to batting was like he would not sell his wicket easilyand gave England hope that he would be able to tune his game to the highest level in this Champions Trophy.

His part time off spin has also provided England an extra spin option to the England bowling line-up apart from Gream Swann. He provided a very big wicket of Ross Taylor who was turning dangerous.This was one of the main reason why England cruised for a 10 wicket haul at Wellington. Joe Root is one of the lucky tallented cricketers for England 

3.Bhuvneshwar Kumar 

Where : India

                                       Very young, atheletic and intelligent. Bhuvi recently had a dream debut against Pakistan. On his 11th First-class match he registered his name in the history book by dismissing Sachin Tendulkar for a duck, first time ever in history he was dismissed for a duck in his First-class carrier.Bhuvenshwar is a right-arm fast-medium pacer who has the knack of extracting movement both ways with the new ball. His pace is not threatening, but he makes it up with the movement.

He also came as a very important lower middle-order batsman, his first-class average of 30, 11 half-centuries and a century shows that he can contribute with the bat also.Bhuveneshwar Kumar is the next generation of Indian pacers

4.Kane Williamson

Where : New Zeland

                                         Kane williamson had a very strange Debut. He did not prove to be useful with the bat but he bowled a dream spell of 4-1-2-1 against India in the Srilinkan Tri-series.Williamson was always Rated highly in New Zeland and also proved that he is worth his expectations, scoring 131 in his madien Test innings against India which helped New Zeland manage a Draw after a huge loss in the first Test. He became the 8th New Zelander to score a century on debut. He had a forgetable 2011 where he dint match his potential but he struck back in 2012, scoring a match saving unbeaten 102in the 4th innings against South African attack that included Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel And Veron Philander .By the time, he already scored 2 ODI centuries and impressed several experts with his organised defensive techinique and his elegant and classy strokeplay. 5.Junaid Khan

Where : Pakistan

                                          Had to fight for a single spot against Mohammed Amir, Junaid might have lost the war but Good pace, better stamina and an ability to move the ball around if the coonditions are right helped him regain his lost position. He madi it for the national side for the World Cup 2011 to replace the injured Sohail Tanvir. His test Debut, against Zimbabwe in 2011, was uneventful but in his second thet he showed his class with a five-wicket haul against Sri lanka on a flat surface in Abu Dhabi where most bowlers struggled to adapt to these conditions

The next year, he was even more impressive in both Tests and ODI's, as he excelled as an extremely skillful swing and seam bowler , who was also pacy and accruate. In therr Tests in Sri lanka, he took 14 wickets at an average of 21, and taking 2 five-fors and achiveing an excellent strike rate of 43 balls per wicket. In the three-match ODI series in India during the end of the year, he continued to truble the Indian top-order batsmen, taking 8 wickets in that series with an econ rate of 3.66. 6.David Miller

Where : South Africa

                                          Miller Killer is one of the IPL products.Kings XI Punjab had to chase a heavy target of 191 in their home turf and they were murdered to 61/4 in first 10 overs. Miller was the "one-man-rmy" of that match. from a position of 61/4 in 10 overs, he carried the team to victory by scoring an unbeaten 101 of just 38 balls. He single handedly finished the match in just 18.5 overs, winning the match with 11 balls to spare.

David Miller was grommed for cricketing success from a young agr. He made his first-class debut when he was just 17 and has been a force in limited-overs cricket. Grace and elegance have a little to play in his techinique which is to hit the ball with such power that the ball can never be found.he can be very effective for South Africa, especially in powerplays just because of his big hitting.Miller can be a true killer for his opponent team

7.Thisara Perera

Where : Sri Lanka

                                            The most devestating all-rounder. Thisara Perera was Mathews go-to man from his college days itself. Perera was called up for the Sri Lankan squad in 2009 ironically, for Mathews.

This quickly led to a one year contract with Chennai Super Kings, the leading franchise of the IPL for 50,000 $. Perera fastly established himself as one of Sri Lanka's impact player. He is capabable of picking up wickets and provide important breakthrough with his pacy bowling action. He is now the 4th bowler to pick up a Hat-trick in ODI's

During a match VS Kings XI Punjab it looked like Kings had all under their hands, 18 required of the last 12  in a slow Hyderbad pitch. This is when Perera entered and destroyed Punjab's hopes of winning the match

by blasting veteran all-rounder Azar Mahamood for 22 from 5 balls to win the match. This incident says that bowlers cannot face him without proper planning.

8.Sunil Narine

Where : West Indies

                                            Sunil Narine, an off spinner, Caught the eyes of selectors of Trinidad & Tobago

by taking all the 10 wickets in a trial match and he received a promotion to the Trinidad & Tobago squad in January 2009. A former West Indies Under-19 player, Sunil Narine made his debut against Leeward Islands but took no wicket in his 13 overs. He never represented Trinidad and Tobago in limited overs format but was selected for Champions League 2009 which was held in India. he was an outstanding success during the 2011 Champions League season he took 10 wickets with an average of 10.50 and an economy rate of 4.37.

he played his first ODI against India too in which he picked up the wicket of Virat Kholi which was one of the main reasons why West Indies won that match he was picked up by KKR in the IPL 2012 Auction for a jackpot 700,000 $. The Miss Out IX

There are a lot of new,young and fresh talents in this Champions Trophy but there are many proven talents who previously have succeeded in who missed the board for the Champions Trophy. This list excludes players who were not capable of playing due to injuries like Greame Smith, Jack Kallis, Kevin Peterson, Jesse Ryder, etc

1.Virendher Sehwag  

                         the captain of the miss out eleven. His record breaking 219 against Windes shook the history of ODI cricket but his poor form in the recent series against England in the 2012 series led India to loose a test series in their own home turf.Yet,he was given a second change to play in the first test of Border-Gavaskar trophy 2013 against Australia at Chennai as predicted,he dint make his best out of the given opportunity.He was dropped for the rest of the series and has not played a single match after that.He also made a lot of fielding and footwork bloopers on the field which was also one main reason for dropping him

2.Gautam Ghambir  

                         Another Delhi boy who failed to catch the flight like Sehwag. Ghambir also faced the same problem which Sehwag faced. lack of scoring ability and poor fielding efforts made the selectors to think about him. His poor form continued in IPL also. Managing a high socre of 54,he finished the tournament with a average of 17 not excluding his 2 half-centuries justified the reason for not picking him.

3.David Hussey

                          Totally supported by his elder brother Micheal Hussey,who had the consistency to maintain his form had the ability to play all kind of shorts and his excellent commitment in the feild but his brother unlike him performed occasionally with the bat even after being equally experienced like his brother.He lacked ability to play short balls and yorkers which was the main concern for the Australian team. He might have a First class average of 65 but it just did not satisfy the CA selection committee and soon lost his position in the Champions trophy side just after his brothers retirement

4. Younis Khan

                           Pakistan had a great problem in their batting order.Much can go right but a lot can go wrong.Younis used to be the saviour on those kind of tricky situations.One of the most experienced Pakistan batsman who,has also led the side as a Captain was dropped from the Champions trophy squad. The Veteran player who has played more than 253 ODI just lost his golden touch. a very poor average of 17 out of the last 18 ODI's talk a lot about his form

5. Shahid Afridi 

                           Boom Boom might have finally lost his Blazing sixability which he found at the age of 16. Only 15 wickets in his last 21 ODI's and a average of 19 made the selectors ditch completely about selecting Afridi in the Champions trophy squad.His mislead in his bowling justified that Pakistan cannot select him on trusting his occasional blitzes with the bat,Though a 48 ball 88 against South Africa showed how interesting he can be to watch

6. Yuvraj Singh

                          The Six Sixer fame Yuvraj was one of the main reasons why India won both the world cups but Yuvi was not able to carry his excellent form after his recovery from cancer which was one excuse for his poor form.He failed to succeed in IPL and managed a high score of 34 which was very poor for a batsmen of his kind.The selectors had no other choice but to corner Yuvraj and drop him

7. Andre Russel

                          Despite his match turning ability to blister the ball in any side of the ground,Stump-shattering yorkers and his reflexive fielding Andre Russel was dropped from the Champions trophy side as the Windes dressing room was already packed with a lot of all-rounders who left no space for him.An impressive average of 30 with the bat and 31 with the ball mention the bad luck with him.Though he can sometime on an unfortunate day can be erratic with the ball.

8. Veron Philiander 

                          This test specialist bowler has barely been involved in the RSA ODI side.He has so far played only 8 ODI's for his country.despite his average of 35, his variations in the ball and his ability to bowl the ball at the perfect length can turn him very dangerous especially in the English conditions and where 2 new balls are used he could have been a devestating weapon for RSA to pick up early breakthrough

9. James Pattison

                            He was dropped from Champions trophy sprcially to preserve his fragile body from getting injured as he is desperately required by Australia for the Ashes series against England. His lightning speed bowling,sudden slow balls and the most dangerous late out swingers could have increased the chances of Australia winning this Champions trophy

10. Akila Dhananjaya 

                             Another mystery spinner from Sri Lanka who can bowl a Carrom, a Googly and a Doosra and also can heavily confuse the batsman. He was elevated to the Sri Lankan World T20 side even before he has played a professional match. Trusting a 19-year old can be ridiculous but Akila can turn out to be a alluring plan B

11. Johan Botha

                             Johan Botha is an interesting case. He begun his carrier as a medium pacer but coach Mickey Arthur found something different in him and turned him into a offie.He has also successfully led RSA as a captain. His intelligence and his ability to bowl the Doosara and adapting to a condition at a quick time makes him one dangerous bowler to face in the Champions trophy. He was hammered in IPL which made the selectors forget about his heroics. He is also known to be a very explosive batsmen and has led his side to numerous victories in a lot of occasion 

Rescued by Kerion Pollard's 60 of 32 balls,The Mumbai Indians team managed to keep their ship afloat .from a situation where they could have never recovered,Pollard rescued the Mumbai Indians team to place a competitive total of 148.Mumbai's Devon Smith Dispersed the first ball of the innings with a boundary but was not able to capitalize the momentum and soon fell for an beautiful in-swinger from Mohit Sharma.Young
Aditya Tare never got ha chanec from CSK's Albie Morkel picked up Tare with a outstanding toe-crusher.
DK and Rohith tried to bring in a partnership but Rohith fell off for a slow ball from Albie Morkel. As expected wickets kept tumbling mainly CSK's bowling was at its best. But the bowlers were not able to stop the Pollard attack who kept finding the boundary fence.Mumbai managed 135 from 19 overs and Dwayen Bravo bowled 4 beautiful balls in which he gave only 1 run and picked up 2 wickets.Pollard who was desperately asking for the strike from Ojha proved why he wanted the strike. He blasted 2 Maximums into the crowd from the last two balls to bring 13 runs from the last over.

For the super kings,it all went wrong from wicket one.Interestingly Malinga opened the bowling attack for Mumbai Indians.He was saved by Rohith Sharma for the death overs. Surprisingly the new trick worked out as Malinga Picked up two dangerous wickets of Micheal Hussey and Suresh Raina in two consecutive deliveries.Mitchell Jhonson also joined the party with Malinga and picked up the wicket of Subramini Badrinath and Murali Vijay Who looked to turn dangerous. Jadeja was dissmised when he tried to slog the ball over the fence (which was totally unnecessary) on the second delivery of the over which was bowled by Harbajan Singh. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni Tried to do the Pollard recovery kind of mission but had no partner on the other end Ashwin who stood out with MSD managed a 41 run stand with MDS,the highest 9th wicket patnership in IPL history.
